Helping Your Driver-Assistance Systems See the Road Correctly

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, commonly called ADAS, support features such as lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. The features installed vary by vehicle.

Many vehicles use a forward-facing camera mounted near the rearview mirror. This camera looks through the windshield and depends on precise positioning. After the windshield is replaced—or when the camera or its mounting bracket is disturbed—the vehicle manufacturer may require the system to be calibrated.

Calibration is not a one-size-fits-all process. Depending on the manufacturer’s requirements, your vehicle may need:

Static calibration: Performed in a controlled space using precisely positioned targets.

Dynamic calibration: Performed while driving the vehicle under specific road and environmental conditions.

Dual calibration: A combination of static and dynamic procedures.

Why ADAS Calibration Is Important
