Windshield Chip Repair

Repairing a Chip Early May Help Save Your Windshield

windshield-crack-repair.webp

A small rock chip does not always mean that your entire windshield needs to be replaced. When the damage is an appropriate size, depth, and location, professional chip repair can stabilize the damaged area and help reduce the chance of it spreading into a larger crack.

During the repair, specialized resin is placed into the damaged area and cured. This strengthens and stabilizes the break while usually improving its appearance. However, customers should understand that a repaired chip may still leave a small visible blemish.

The sooner a chip is inspected, the better. Dirt, moisture, temperature changes, and everyday driving vibration can make the damage more difficult to repair.

Why Chip Repair Is Important
  • It may prevent a small chip from developing into a larger crack.
  • It can help preserve the vehicle’s original windshield.
  • Repair is generally faster and more affordable than full replacement.
  • Early repair can improve the final appearance of the damaged area.
  • Not every chip can be repaired. We consider its size, depth, location, age, and proximity to the windshield’s edge and the driver’s viewing area. If replacement is the safer choice, we will explain why.
